FREE GBAGBO

Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo

In spite of the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) that not enough evidence has been presented to warrant the continued trial of President Laurent Gbagbo of La Cote d’Ivoire, the Court is threatening to resume the case in November.

It is also significant that this trial is taking place whiles Alhassan Quatara, the leader of the rebel forces which took up arms against the Ivorian state is ensconced in the state House as President.

The Insight is fully convinced that the trial of Laurent Gbagbo is politically motivated.
Gbagbo stood firmly against the recolonisation of La Cote and insisted that the resources of the country should be exploited solely for the benefit of its people.

The trial of Gbagbo is meant to serve as a warning to all African leaders who assert the independence of their countries that they will eventually be crashed.

We demand freedom for President Laurent Gbagbo and all political prisoners in La Cote d’Ivoire.

Gbagbo is innocent and he has to be freed.
