AFRICAN VOICES FOR PALESTINE

Amandzeba Nat Brew
Top ranking musicians from all over Africa will gather in Accra next month to pour out their rhythms in solidarity with the people of Palestine struggling against Israeli colonial occupation.

The mammoth event dubbed “African Voices for Palestine”, is an initiative of Ghanaian musical superstars, Amandzeba, and Nii Lante Blankson.

The event is being sponsored by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) in Accra and is intended to expose the real conditions in Palestine, including the establishment of illegal settlements, the denial of basic rights of Palestinian refugees and the lack of access to social services by the Palestinian people.

A key objective of the concert is the mobilisation of the progressive forces in Africa for accelerating the pace of the national liberation struggle in Palestine.

Marwan Bargouthi
Music maestros from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, La Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and elsewhere on the continent are expected to participate in this historic concert.

The collapse of the apartheid regime and system in South Africa was preceded by such concerts in different parts of the world.

The end of racist rule in Zimbabwe was also heralded by a musical concert by the world famous Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Currently, Palestinian political prisoners led by Marwan Bargouthi have embarked upon a hunger strike to press home their demands for fair treatment.

About a third of the prisoners have been detained without charge or trial.
They include women and children.
