Sheik
Mohammed Sani Ango, Supreme Servant of the Tejaniya in Ghana, has defined
Israel as a settler state built on land that was illegally appropriated from
the Palestinian people in 1947.
He
condemned the acts of violence meted out to the Palestinian people resulting in
the deaths of several thousands in Gaza and in the West Bank.
He
however called for peace to prevail on both sides but insisted that in order to
realise that peace in Palestine and in Israel, there must be a sincere
commitment on the part of the Israeli government to ensure the creation of a
two state solution with both governments living side by side as neighbours with
a common goal of seeking the collective interest of their peoples.
The
Supreme Servant was speaking at the Palestinian Embassy in Accra to mark the
International Day in Solidarity with the people of Palestine observed on the 29th
of November every year.
Sheik
Mohammed Sani Ango, called on the United Nations and all world leaders to work
harder by supporting the effort of the Palestinian people in their quest to
build a viable state devoid of the subjugation and the human right violations
the people of Palestine currently suffered.
The
International Day of Solidarity with Palestine has been set aside by the United
Nations and is observed every year because on that day in 1947, the general
assembly adopted resolution 181 which provided for the establishment in
Palestine, a Jewish State and an Arab State.
