MAHAMA SHOWS CLASS

President Mahama insists: "I want to debate Nana Akufo Addo"
By Ekow Mensah
President John Dramani Mahama is increasingly demonstrating that he is an exceptional President who has absolute confidence in his record.

He is the only sitting President since 1992 who has participated in the pre-election presidential debate.

None of his predecessors ever participated in such a debate for the obvious reason that their opponents could embarrass them.

Only last week, President Mahama challenged Nana Akufo –Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to a debate.

President Mahama said he is ready for a one –on- one debate with Akufo-Addo.
Interestingly, spokespersons of Nana Akufo-Addo have said emphatically that he will not participate in any such debate.

Even though the NPP agreed to participate in the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) sponsored encounters, its candidate Naana Akufo Addo has failed to show up.
No reason has been given for the failure of Akufo- Addo to appear on the IEA platform.
Alhaji A.B. A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister says that President Mahama will win any debate because “He knows his stuff”.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs programme “Alhaji and Alhaji”, he said “the President is very well prepared and will use such a debate to debunk the lies of the NPP”.

Given Nana Akufo-Addo’s reluctance to participate in the presidential debate, some observers say that it may not come on.

Editorial
PLEASE COME!
The Insight wishes to passionately appeal to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to take up the challenge of President John Dramani Mahama and participate in the presidential debate.

Nana ought to see this as a opportunity to prove the validity of his ideas and to enable him to pitch his vision against that of President Mahama.

We believe that the Ghanaian electorate will benefit significantly from such a debate because it will make it possible for the electorate to separate the rice from the chaff.

This is the time for Nana Akufo –Addo to show his mettle and to prove that after all he has his figures and facts to support his claims.

The Insight will be highly disappointed if this debate does not come on.

Please Nana, accept this challenge and prove President Mahama wrong!
